CyberSafe AI: Dig Deeper with Minecraft

Learners need the right skills to be safe, smart, and confident when it comes to using generative AI tools, and it’s never been more important to build digital citizenship and AI literacy skills. CyberSafe AI: Dig Deeper equips learners with the skills they need to use AI responsibly by exploring questions of academic integrity, human oversight, data privacy, and deepfakes.

Family Coding Nights

IYS Family Coding nights are an easy and exciting way to learn how to code in a way that is easy to understand for both young individuals and their parents! Block language coding makes it easy for young and older players to learn how to code while playing games they love, and it can be transferred into Python or Java Script.
This class is intended for ages 7 and up; Snacks and equipment provided during sessions.
 
Intro to Game Development
happens Fridays
 
In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of game development using the Godot Engine, a powerful and beginner-friendly open-source game engine. They'll also explore GitHub, a platform for saving and sharing code, to develop good coding habits and collaborate on projects.
This class is intended for ages 12 and up; Snacks and equipment provided during sessions.
 

Culinary Club: 

6 week sessions running Tuesdays & Thursdays

Students  will learn how to cook and bake tasty meals using simple meal ingredients a person might find in a food box! Skills include kitchen safety, nutrition, equipment knowledge, and food preparation.

This class is intended for ages 14 and up; Snacks and equipment provided during sessions.
 

Career Jumpstart: 

5 week sessions running Thursdays

Students can explore job seeking through a career focused scope preparing them for the working world. This class is focused on workforce development and enhancement of technical skills. This includes finding a career, resume writing, Moc Interviews, and utilizing programs such as Canva and Microsoft.

This class is intended for ages 14 and up; Snacks and equipment provided during sessions.
 
Youth Advisory Board
Leaders meet every First and Third Friday of the month from 4:30PM-6:30PM
 
The Young Leaders Taking Action Group is a fun and engaging opportunity for young people (ages 14-23). The idea behind this group is for IYS to gain insightful ideas and plans from young people in order to enhance, expand, and start new projects. This happens through organic conversations with monthly art activities woven together to make for a fun group meeting! The benefits to this include:
