The Independent Living Program is designed to help young people ages 14-23 in Klamath County who are or have been in foster care become self-sufficient. We hope to help these youth improve their chances at becoming successful adult citizens. Youth are given encouragement and the support that they need to complete their high school diploma or general education diploma, find employment, and secure housing, as well as gaining other important life skills and access to resources.
The Independent Living Program Coordinator provides one-on-one mentoring and peer group classes to help youth grow. Students can sign up through their local DHS office to be involved!
Young Leaders Taking Action
IYS is excited to jump start a new and exciting way for youth and past program participants to share their opinions on programs and services! Currently 9 of the 10 positions are filled, and this is available to ages 14-23 to be involved in. Students are paid $30 per session, along with provided snacks and activities.
