Life Skills Programs

Independent Living

Youth 14-21 are provided training to help them be better equipped for adulthood in this program. With one-to-one mentoring, facilitated groups and case-management the youth are actively thinking and learning about what it will take to live successfully as an adult. The large range of subjects they learn include personal social skills to accessing community resources to car maintenance, etc.

Summer Youth Employment

Youth 14-21 years old learn job search, job skills and job maintenance in this program. With the cooperation and partnership of various community partners IYS provides from 3-5 summer work crews for 8-week work projects. These projects give youth the opportunity to learn how to obtain and keep a job, from the application process through to the final evaluation for summer.
